Waiting for your favorite actor/actress for almost 2 hours in sweaty crowd on a sunny day in the rainy season makes it ironically exciting. And you know what's even more exciting? The program getting canceled!
Disappointment with grace!
Luckily, I had only one lecture that day, till 11am. As soon as the lectures got over, I along with my other classmates who were also Deepika Padkone fans hurried towards the Mithibai college. Yes, Deepika Padukone & Arjun Kapoor
were to come in Mithibai College at 11am. Our college was at walking distance and reached there in not more than 10-15 min. We reached at the main entrance of the Mithibai College and saw tremendous crowd.
All, it seemed, were college students outside the college entrance. The organizing team were in full twist in controlling the crowd, literally pushing the crowd back to make sure there was adequate space for entry. It was tough to stand still in the crowd as you get unexpected blows every moment. The tension that build up in that package of crowd was intense. If someone gives a push, people would swing like a wave and yet standing firmly.
Not only around the Main gate, but also on the road crossing there were lot of sparkling eyes waiting just to get a glimpse.
Suddenly, something happens. The ropes are being removed, the organizing team are crossing their arms towards the crowd and trying to convey something. Anyone could make out that he conveyed that the program has been cancelled! Initially we thought it was just to eliminate some crowd.
The main gate was closing much quickly than we could decide what to do. We went inside! 3 of us managed to get in before the gate closed. Things happened so quickly that I went blindly following one of my friend inside & realized that I was standing on the Red Carpet! I just stood there for a moment, noticed the stage in front of me & the media panel, the crowd standing outside, guards and members of organizing team standing, staring at me in the middle of the Red Carpet.
I saw my friend who was ahead of me talking to someone, so I rushed towards him to join. Walking straight on the Red Carpet we got ourselves into the media panel, just beside the stage. We stood there for a moment and sat there with other media members. Crowd did notice us, we weren't the media guys! My other friend joins us at this moment. So we 3 were sitting there like jerks, waiting for something miraculous to happen, when a security guard approaches. He asks very politely if we are from media. We gently said "No" and he asks us to leave the panel.
This was it! We came out but got a great spot just behind the media panel. Eventually, they declared that they are not coming!! Oh damn, that disappointment!
We waited, waited & waited but no, the things were started to get disorganized. The music system was removed, crowd was left open and media stared to backup. We realized that no one is going to come, and we should leave.
With a heavy heart we left & convinced ourselves that this is really happening & no one is coming.
