Respect, Interest and the placement offer!

The placements of management internship through college started with a disappointment this year. A Singapore based company was interested in recruiting Marketing & Finance major students from our college on 3rd Jan'15. By default, all Marketing & Finance students were nominated to appear for group discussion (GD) round. After going through the job description
lot of students were not interested in the company.

Finance students postulated that it is offering a job profile of Sales, but Marketing students opposed it by saying that it is a Finance based company & similar is the job profile. In all this mess the Job Profile turned out to be a Financial Sales.

Financial Sales?! Well, corporate world is much more than we think of it!

The 4 representatives of the company walked into the seminar hall and got ready with their presentation they were to deliver. It turned out to be not-so-impressive presentation. They lost more than half of the 100+ students right away. It is said that the first impression is the last impression! This was the case with this company.

After the presentation, all the 'interested' students had to go through a GD round. By default, all were interested. We did not choose that, our college did, which later turned out not so good scenario for us.

I was in the first group of 24 students and we started right away. I had a tag of no. 3. Before starting the GD, one representative of the company addressed us and answered the questions asked by us. He was receptive & convincing but rather aggressive & carefree. Just before starting the GD he asked the non-interested students may leave the hall and the rest can start with the GD. Surprisingly for both the parties, all the 24 students left the hall!

It is really had to imagine how they would have felt; showing no interest whatsoever in a Multinational company?! We shattered all their hopes, respect & interest quicker than a blink of an eye.

All 24 of us were called in the Placement Office to hear some word of delight & wonder from the Executive. Damn, She was angry! She shouted on all of us like a Dragon breathing fire. She pointed out few relevant points which made sense and then I realized how childish our behavior was. We could have sat for GD and not perform in it if we were not interested. It did spoil the name & Respect of our college in front of them for sure.

After that I came took a ride to home. It was an unexpected eventful day!
